Last night I felt like I had such a boring day that all I wanted to do was go home, curl up with a blanket and watch tv. Instead of letting myself fall into this pattern I forced myself to go to the gym.
I climbed on the treadmill a little hesitant at first, and then I turned my Ipod music up and the fast-paced rhythm of the Pussy Cat Girls filled my head and suddenly I was running. Throughout my workout my music took me to many different places as I continued throughout my workout. I moved to the elliptical trainer for the next 30 minutes of my workout and was enchanted by Enya and Casting Crowns. Suddenly I realized that I had done it. I had completed my workout!
After leaving the gym for the night I suddenly felt energized, powerful and strong! This is the feeling that I love about working out. The sudden natural high that comes after completing your workout and the feeling of being strong and healthy.
Once I have completed my workout and have this feeling I wonder why I ever considered "not working out" for the evening. Why wouldn't you want to feel this "natural high" each and every night of your life? That is the age old question.
Until then, I will continue to visit the gym for my usual visits.
